Sermon Reflections from WORSHIP | Alex Hardt | July 27
This Sunday was a day of celebration for the good things God had provided us with even though we were not in the building, we were there in spirit. The new carpeting and flooring will add considerable beauty and usefulness to very heavy trafficked areas. Pastor Alex was inventive and spoke outside with a videoed message to finish his series called GLOW.
Our hearts are filled with praise to Almighty God as He has provided over and over for us these last 50 years so that His Word, the gospel of Jesus could go forth. Pastor Alex reminded us why we worship from Revelation 4:11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” God is worthy of our worship as He is the creator of all things and willed them into being. That is nothing any of us could ever do!
Psalm 99: 3-5 “Let them praise your great and awesome name!
Holy is he! 4 The King in his might loves justice.
You have established equity; you have executed justice
and righteousness in Jacob. 5 Exalt the Lord our God;
worship at his footstool! Holy is he!”

We worship God because He alone is Holy and because He rules with justice, impartiality, and righteousness!
Psalm 105: 1-3 gives us another reason and tells us what we should do with our worship and praises. “Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name make known his deeds among the peoples! 2 Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!
3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! “

How are you doing in telling others of the greatness of your God? Do you share the good things and even the hard things that God has led you through? His praises, according to the psalmist, need to like songs on our lips proclaiming His wonders and deeds.
Think about the anacronym GLOW (Glorify, Loyalty, Obedience, Worship) and analyze your worship.

Does your worship Glorify God? Meaning, do your words and deeds lead others to say, “Wow” towards God.
Are you Loyal to Him? This is really tough as it means do you serve only Him? There are so many things in our world that can present themselves as idols in our lives- education, careers, money, power... the list is long and one to be examined in light of our heart for God.
Obedience is following God even when things say no. Even when circumstances or people would say you are foolish for following God and His Word, you do it anyway. This one takes a lifetime of walking with Jesus but is doable with the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Look at the blessing Ruth and Naomi received as Ruth obeyed Naomi and was blessed with a husband a child. It was not just any child, but a child in the line of king David and King Jesus.
Our last letter is W. This stands for Worship itself. Looking back at the other letters- GLO

I need to ask myself are my praises of worship, my actions and deeds ones that bring Glory to God? Am I walking daily in Obedience being Loyal to my Savior?
I have appreciated this series as it has led to my focusing on the quality and reality of my worship. It has caused me to reevaluate and seek to make God the center of my worship and walk with Him on a daily basis. I pray this series and the lessons from Ruth have touched your heart and drawn you closer to God in true worship.
